The Portuguese Cork Association (APCOR) announced that its Cork Academy program, an ambitious “train the trainers” initiative aiming at escalating its cork education momentum in China, has achieved immediate success in shortly sixmonths.

These 37approved cork educators come from 15 cities in 10 provinces. This  geographical diversity brings a lot of mileage in spreading their cork education efforts in the market. Their 50 workshops organized so far took place in 24 cities including Shanghai, Xiamen, Changzhou, Hefei, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Changsha, Dalian, Nanchang, Dongguan, Fuzhou, Foshan, Ningbo, Beijing, Ji’nan, Qingdao, Chongqing, Gansu, Shanxi, Xinjiang, Nanjing, Huaian and Xianyang.

More than 1,000 wine educators, distributors, retailers, industry professionals and wine enthusiasts attended these workshops. They were able to learn various aspects about cork ranging from its history, physical properties, production process, its benefits to wine making as well as sustainability.

“We are pleased to see the instant impact created by our first class of Cork Academy graduates which is just phenomenal,” said Carlos de Jesus, Operational Director of InterCork program of APCOR. “The efforts of our cork educators will help us further promote the value propositions of cork, namely Culture, Nature and Future, to stakeholders in China.”

More cork workshops are under planning and will be staged in the months ahead. Should you be interested in cork workshop of certified cork educators, please visit APCOR’s social media accounts.
